Osung prosthesis and abutment separator

Osung Prosthesis & Abutment Separator
What is a Prosthesis & Abutment Separator?
A prosthesis and abutment separator is a specialized dental instrument used to safely detach implant-supported crowns, bridges, or abutments from the implant fixture.
Instead of applying uncontrolled force (which risks fractures or damage), this tool uses a mechanical screw-driven system to apply gradual, precise pressure.

Key Components & Dimensions
The tool uses a modular system to accommodate different sizes of dental implants.8mm Insert:
-
Outer Diameter: Ø8mm
-
Total Height: 11mm
-
Lip Height: 4mm
-
6mm Insert:
-
Outer Diameter: Ø6mm
-
Internal Height: 8mm
-
Lower Stem Height: 6mm
How the Device Works
The separator operates on a mechanical screw-press principle to provide controlled, vertical force:
-
Selection: The appropriate insert (6mm or 8mm) is placed into the base of the separator frame to match the size of the abutment.
-
Alignment: The crown-abutment assembly is seated into the insert.
-
Separation: As the T-handle at the top is rotated, a precision plunger descends through the center of the crown.
-
Action: The plunger applies steady pressure to the abutment screw/post while the frame holds the crown stationary. This pushes the abutment out of the internal housing of the crown cleanly.
Clinical Benefits
-
Preservation: Eliminates the need for "prying" or manual force that could chip the porcelain or ceramic of the prosthesis.
-
Efficiency: Simplifies a task that can often be difficult if the friction fit between the crown and abutment is very tight.
In modern implant dentistry, precision and safety are everything. Removing implant prostheses or separating abutments without damaging components can be challenging without the right instrument.
The Osung Prosthesis & Abutment Separator is designed to make this process effortless, controlled, and predictable—saving both time and costly implant components.
