The Gracey curette has a face that is perpendicular to the terminal shank, such that there are cutting edges on both the sides. The gracey curette is largely employed for dental procedures like subgingival curettage and root planning below gingiva. The ends of the curettes can be sharpened using flat-surfaced sharp objects made of stone. The concave surface of the dental curette can be sharpened with stone surfaces.
